Federal Investigators Search for the Three People in 9/11 Anniversary Plot
Federal investigators searched for three people Friday in connection with a possible al Qaeda bomb plot timed to the days surrounding the 10th anniversary of the Sept.
Authorities identified the individuals after searching through hundreds of flight logs and other records. Investigators said they believed at least one suspect is in the U.S., but added that the information was preliminary.
Washington put police on 12-hour shifts Friday and New York began searching vehicles approaching the city’s bridges amid unconfirmed intelligence of a terror attack to coincide with the 10th anniversary of 9/11.
U.S. intelligence and law enforcement officials scrambled Friday to identify and find three men who supposedly planned to travel to the United States from Afghanistan to detonate car bombs on bridges or in tunnels during the Sept. 11 anniversary weekend in New York and Washington, D.C.
