12th Edition of the Concise Oxford English Dictionary Released with Multiple Online Terms such as Sexting, Woot, Retweet, Cyberbullying

Woot! The online expression of enthusiasm is now in the dictionary. So are textspeak, sexting — and, less happily, cyberbullying. They are among 400 new entries in the 12th edition of the Concise Oxford English Dictionary, published this month.

Retweet, sexting and cyberbullying have all made the cut to be included in the venerable volume, as have textspeak and woot.

These additions are just carrying on the tradition of a dictionary that has always sought to be progressive and up to date," OED said in an online statement, describing itself as a word curator that had always "sought primarily to cover the language of its own time.
