Whistleblower in News of the World Phone Hacking Scandal Found Dead

Sean Hoare, the former News of the World showbusiness reporter who was the first named journalist to allege that Andy Coulson was aware of phone hacking by his staff, has been found dead.

Hoare was an entertainment reporter for News of the World and The Sun. Police are investigating the cause of death but are not currently treating it as "suspicious."

Hoare, who worked for two News Corp. British papers – the Sun and the World – was the first journalist sourced by name to implicate former News of the World editor Andy Coulson in the phone hacking scandal. The police have said his death is “not thought to be suspicious,” though the investigation is ongoing.
