Mayor Richard M. Daley Leaves Chicago City Hall for Last Time

Daley will be replaced Monday when Chicago mayor-elect Rahm Emanuel takes the oath of office. Daley left his office Friday evening in downtown Chicago with his wife, Maggie Daley. He said last year that he wouldn't seek another term.

In politics, 22 years is a lifetime (a lifetime and a half in pop star years, Biebs). But since 1989, Chicago's had the same mayor, Richard M. Daley, part of the storied Daley dynasty.

With tears in his eyes, Richard Michael Daley walked out of City Hall on Friday for the final time as mayor of Chicago and into the uncertain but, he hopes, rewarding and lucrative life of a retired politician.
