Phase 4 of Air France 447 Search and Recovery Operation Discovers Large Portions of Plane on Ocean Floor

Unmanned submarines have found the bodies of some passengers who died when an Air France plane crashed off Brazil in 2009, as well as wreckage from the aircraft, the French government said.

Last week, at least a few of those questions were answered. The BEA, France’s aviation investigation authority, announced that it had located wreckage on the sea floor, nearly 13,000 feet below the surface.

French investigators have said that they have found parts of an Air France plane that crashed over the Atlantic while flying from Rio de Janeiro to Paris in June 2009.
