Moammar Gadhafi Buried in Secret Desert Grave
Former Libyan strongman Moammar Gaddafi was secretly buried in a desert grave on Tuesday, officials said, ending a four-day spectacle in which his bloody body was displayed to a public largely overjoyed about his ignominious end after decades of repressive rule.
The ceremony was carried out overnight in an undisclosed location to prevent it becoming a shrine for Gaddafi loyalists or a target for his opponents.
The National Transitional Council has also announced it will investigate how Gaddafi and one of his sons were killed, after footage showed they were both alive after they were captured.
Moammar Gadhafi was buried at dawn Tuesday in an unmarked grave in a modest Islamic ceremony, closing the book on his nearly 42-year rule of Libya and the eight-month civil war to oust him.
