Toronto Blue Jays defeat New York Yankees, 6-3

TORONTO - This wasn't exactly the plan the Yankees had to limit Phil Hughes' innings.

Hughes was roughed up Wednesday night in his shortest outing of the season, getting hammered by the Blue Jays, 6-3, to send the Bombers into Thursday's off-day stuck in a first-place tie with the Rays.

Hughes (15-6) allowed five runs on six hits and five walks over 3-2/3 innings, the first time in his 24 starts this season that he's failed to complete at least five frames.
