Kansas City Royals defeat New York Yankees, 4-3

KANSAS CITY – The Yankees nearly had Mother Nature to blame for their loss to the lowly Royals Friday night.

In the end, the only ones to blame were themselves.

The Yankees and Royals waited out two hours, 41 minutes worth of rain delays before Kansas City pulled out a 4-3 win at Kauffman Stadium.

"That's baseball," Joe Girardi said. "You go through a couple of these a year. It was just a weird night."
