Seattle Mariners defeat St. Louis Cardinals, 2-1

The Cardinals failed for the fifth time this season to sweep a three-game series after taking the first two games when they lost 2-1 to Seattle on Wednesday night at Busch Stadium.

They have had five chances to sweep three-game sets although they took a four-gamer from Atlanta here and a two-game set against Washington.
