Chicago White Sox defeat Kansas City Royals, 5-1
It took five starts, 29 days and numerous sleepless nights from White Sox personnel, but the Jake Peavy ''rough patch'' is over.
The right-handed ace had been talking a better game than actually pitching one since January. But after his outing Monday, no talk was needed.
Peavy went seven-plus scoreless innings, allowing only four hits, walking one and fanning nine in the 5-1 victory over the Kansas City Royals.

The guy in the No. 44 jersey Monday night, mowing down Kansas City Royals left and right as the White Sox breezed to a 5-1 series-opening victory. The innings-eater turning in seven-plus innings of scoreless ball, striking out nine and walking just one. The pitcher strongly resembling the Peavy who has won a Cy Young.
That Peavy, for whatever reason, is about a month late in arriving to the Sox' rotation.
