San Diego Padres defeat St. Louis Cardinals, 2-1

SAN DIEGO – It may be too harsh and too early to describe the meandering Cardinals as a fundamentally flawed team.

But there is little avoiding the fact that some serious baserunning blemishes contributed heavily to Wednesday’s 2-1, 13-inning loss to the San Diego Padres at cavernous PETCO Park.
