Arizona Diamondbacks defeat Chicago Cubs, 13-5

It was inevitable that the starting pitching was going to have another clunker one of these days -- Carlos Zambrano in the rotation or not.

That's what makes all those low-scoring one-run losses -- and all five of those losses when the other guys scored three or fewer -- so costly and damaging to that quick start the Cubs' talked about in spring training.

Cubs general manager Jim Hendry says little has changed in top prospect Starlin Castro's status since spring training -- despite the fact he's tearing up Southern League pitching. And Hendry says he likes and trusts the veteran roster of hitters he has.

That said, ''There's no doubt he'll be here sometime this year,'' Hendry says, ''but it won't be anytime in the next couple of days.''

Whether that means he's leaving the door open for next week's series in Pittsburgh...
