Crystal Bowersox Performs 'No One Needs to Know' on 'American Idol'
Crystal's picked No One Needs to Know, a No. 1 country hit from 1996, that she's singing as a message to her boyfriend.
"He'll man up one of these days," she says.
She gets down to the song's acoustic essentials, with a Dobro player, a stand-up bassist, a mandolin player and a drummer playing a snare on stage with her. She sounds good, but the female harmony singer sounds tentative, which throws off the arrangement. All in all, it's a good concept that doesn't quite carry off, but that's more the fault of the band than it is of Crystal.
