New York Yankees defeat Los Angeles Angels, 7-1
ANAHEIM – He may not have taken a no-hitter into the eighth inning this season, but Andy Pettitte continues to be the Yankees' most impressive starter.
Pettitte's blazing start continued on Saturday, as the lefthander dominated the Angels in a 7-1 Yankees win, snapping the Bombers' two-game losing streak.
Pettitte allowed one run on six hits over eight innings, striking out eight without issuing a walk. In four starts this season, Pettitte is 3-0 with a 1.29 ERA.
ANAHEIM - While Angels manager Mike Scioscia called Mark Teixeira's collision with catcher Bobby Wilson on Friday night a "clean play," Torii Hunter didn't see it that way.
"(Wilson) gave him the plate. You can either slide there or take him out," the Angels center fielder told the Orange County Register after Friday's game. "I thought it was a little too early in the game to take him out. If he slides, he's safe regardless. I guess he was on a mission."
