Houston Astros defeat Chicago Cubs, 4-3

For an instant Saturday when Tom Gorzelanny crumbled on the mound after being hit by a bullet line drive by the Houston Astros' Pedro Feliz in the third inning, the Cubs' pitching quandary took on a frightening new dimension.

There may be a spring in Alfonso Soriano's step as he continues to find his batting stroke, but there won't be a hop in his step defensively.

Soriano, who has had problems in left field, said Saturday he's trying to eliminate the hop he makes as he catches a ball.

He committed another error in the fifth inning against the Houston Astros when he came in to catch Jason Michaels' fly and the ball hit his glove and fell.
