Chicago Cubs defeat Cincinnati Reds, 4-3

CINCINNATI -- Manager Lou Piniella finally figured out how to fix that third of the game the Cubs were having so much trouble with: Quit giving that much of the game to the bullpen.

''From what we've experienced in the first five games, starting pitchers going seven innings is the best remedy,'' Piniella said Saturday after Carlos Zambrano became the team's first starter to pitch more than six innings in a 4-3 victory over the Reds at Great American Ball Park.
