Minnesota Golden Gophers defeat Iowa Hawkeyes, 86-74

IOWA CITY — Had he attended the Gophers' 86-74 victory over Iowa on Saturday, former Arkansas coach Nolan Richardson would have had a reason to smile.

The Gophers gave the Hawkeyes about 35 minutes of hell -- not quite the 40 minutes Richardson's teams were known for in the 1980s and '90s. They strangled Iowa's offense in the first half (nine field goals) and scored in transition with Usain Bolt-like speed.
