Cleveland Indians defeat Minnesota Twins, 5-2
CLEVELAND - Four errors in one game.
The last time it happened to the Twins, they were sitting 15 1/2 games back in the standings. That was at Texas on June 21, 2000, when Cristian Guzman and friends were trying to help the franchise turn the corner.
When it happened again Friday night, in a 5-2 loss to Cleveland at Progressive Field, it was far more costly.
This time, the Twins weren't just losing grip of the baseball but of their playoff chances as well.
CLEVELAND - The Twins continue to have differences with pitcher Glen Perkins over medical issues, and it remained uncertain Friday whether the lefthander will pitch for them again this season.
Perkins went 12-4 with a 4.41 ERA as a rookie last season, but arm injuries have limited him to 17 starts this year, and he has gone 6-7 with a 5.89 ERA. The former Stillwater High School and Gophers pitcher went on the disabled list because of left shoulder tendinitis Aug. 9, but...
