Chicago 2016 Olympic Bid Team Travels to Copenhagen to Lobby IOC

In making her pitch for Chicago to land the 2016 Olympic Games, First Lady Michelle Obama touted a distinctly Chicago cultural asset: Oprah Winfrey.

“I said every single city who’s bidding wishes they had Oprah on their team, and we have her, and we are grateful that she is a part of this endeavor,” Obama said at welcome reception hosted by Chicago Mayor Richard Daley in Copenhagen today.

The president will address the IOC members directly and will rub shoulders with them over coffee before breezing out again. The first lady will also address the session after a couple of days spent talking to voting members and trying to persuade them to choose her home town over the other bidders.
