Minnesota Vikings defeat Detroit Lions, 27-13
Antoine Winfield ran down the line of scrimmage from his cornerback position and belted Detroit running back Kevin Smith dead in his tracks Sunday for no gain.
Another textbook tackle by the Vikings' Pro Bowl cornerback last week showed why his teammates love having him on their side.
"'Toine knocks the life out of you when he tackles you," Pro Bowl defensive end Jared Allen said. "When he hit that dude in Detroit, I thought [Smith] just disappeared."
DETROIT — The Vikings left Ford Field on Sunday atop the NFC North with a 2-0 record. Both victories have come on the road, they have outscored opponents by 28 points and Brett Favre has yet to throw an interception.
