Third University of Illinois Trustee resigns
University of Illinois Trustee Edward McMillan -- the only board member not tied to the school's admissions scandal -- submitted a resignation letter Thursday, following a blue-ribbon panel's recommendation that the entire board step down.
McMillan said he sent the letter to Gov. Pat Quinn about 15 minutes after the Illinois Admission Review Commission approved its final report.
Though he has served on the panel for less than seven months, McMillan said his gesture was meant as a sign of respect to U. of I. and to the commission's work, which he called "thorough" and "impartial."
