St. Louis Cardinals defeat Cincinnati Reds, 5-2

Mark DeRosa has hit second more often than any other place in manager Tony La Russa's lineup since being acquired in late June from Cleveland.

But neither La Russa nor DeRosa is blind to the fact that since DeRosa came here, the new Cardinals' third baseman, while displaying home-run pop, is only five for 43 (.116) when batting second.

The theory always has been that anybody hitting in front of two-time Most Valuable Player Albert Pujols would get better pitches to hit....
