New York Mets defeat Philadelphia Phillies, 6-5

As Jerry Manuel made his way to the mound Tuesday night, Johan Santana looked unhappy.

Santana had just given up a home run to Chase Utley - the seventh homer of the night in suddenly homer-happy Citi Field - but Santana clearly didn't want to come out of the game.

He told Manuel, "I'm a man, I'm a man," and implored the manager to leave him in. But Santana's protests ultimately did not work and he left to a standing ovation.

Philly had to love its chances for victory Tuesday night.

Only once in his career has Mets ace Johan Santana allowed four home runs in a game. That occurred on July 23, 2007, when Toronto smoked Santana for four homers while the lefty was with the Twins.

So Tuesday night, on one of those rare occasions when Santana - who has never lost to the Phillies - did not have his best stuff, Philly had Santana on the ropes.
