Red Sox lose 57th game of season, 6 - 3 to Texas Rangers
After nearly being subjected to a perfect game Saturday night, the Rangers wasted little time breaking out their bats Sunday afternoon in a 6-3 victory against Daisuke Matsuzaka and the Red Sox in front of 37,537 at Fenway Park.
Michael Young, who broke up Jon Lester's perfect game with one out the seventh inning Saturday night, hit a solo home run off Matsuzaka into the Boston bullpen in the first inning.
Daisuke Matsuzaka continued his mediocre 2009 season with a lackluster 5 2/3 innings on an otherwise beautiful Sunday afternoon. Texas defeated the Red Sox by a score of 6-3. What's wrong with him. Is he OK physically? He explains...
Rangers - 112 010 100 - 6 12 1
Red Sox - 002 100 000 - 3 4 0
Matsuzaka did not walk a batter, but other than that, it was yet another poor outing: 5-10-5-0-8, 102.
