Chicago Children's Choir Performs At Ravinia

The Chicago Children's Choir performed at Ravinia on June 17, 2009.

They began the night with Bogorditse Devo by Rachmaninov, and from there the choir sang everything from Vivaldi's Gloria to the Cha Cha Slide. Included in the mix were old favorites like "I Need You To Survive," and "Elijah Rock," to some new favorites like "Stand Up And Make A Change" and "Mayn Rue Platz."

While the Concert Choir (the red jackets) was the main focus of the concert, the Honors Choir (the red vests) did have a few appearances in the show. They entered the stage for "Yen Yere Guma" and "I Need You To Survive." And a few featured dancers from the Honors Choir danced during the Dance Medley encore.

Many soloists proudly displayed their talents. Included in the bunch were Phillip Armstrong, Timothy Fett, and Ashley Marsh.

Also, two small, audition-based ensembles performed. Madrigals is a small group of singers conducted by Mollie Stone that have proved themselves in small group singing. They sang a lovely set of pieces, including Il Est Ben Et Bon by Pierre Passereau.

The Show Choir is run by Judy Hanson. This small group features singers who are able to sing pop and rock music while dancing. This set included Unwritten by Natasha Beddingfield, and 100 Years by Five For Fighting.

I need you
you need me
we're all a part of God's body
stand with me agree with me
we're all a part of God's body

It is His will that every need be supplied
You are important to me
I need you to survive

I'll pray for you
You pray for me
I love you
I need you to survive
I won't harm You
With words from my mouth
I love You
I need you to survive

— I Need You To Survive Lyrics
