Minnesota Twins defeat Chicago Cubs, 7-4

CHICAGO - Denard Span is back on the medication he was given for an inner ear infection, but the outfielder will not be allowed to rejoin the Twins this weekend at Wrigley Field.

Span, who has battled dizziness in recent weeks, had stopped taking the medication.

"It made him feel funny," manager Ron Gardenhire said, "and he got off of it."

CHICAGO — Twins Nation hit Wrigley Field with all its might on Friday. The voices of its members bounced around the 95-year-old ballpark, making the Friendly Confines rather comfy for the visitors.

"It almost felt like a home game for us,'' closer Joe Nathan said. "When we scored, there were eruptions.''

One of the loudest moments occurred in the eighth inning when Joe Mauer, who already had a two-run homer, batted with runners on the corners.
