7, 2006, when he left his outing after four innings because of a sore elbow. It sent him on a path to Tommy John surgery that offseason, no baseball in 2007 and an up-and-down 2008 season.

"That was a long time ago," the Twins lefthander said while looking surprised. "I didn't remember that stuff. I put it all behind."

DETROIT - Despite having shoulder problems in 2007 and again this year, Twins righthander Jesse Crain always has been diligent about his in-season conditioning.

And there he was Monday, his first day off the disabled list, smiling and doing arm presses while standing in the visitors clubhouse at Comerica Park. He was available but didn't pitch in the Twins' 7-2 victory over Detroit.
