Red Sox beat Blue Jays, 8 - 2

As much as the Red Sox enjoyed the revival of their recently stagnant offense, a more important story developed throughout their 8-2 victory over the Blue Jays on getaway Sunday at Rogers Centre.

Jon Lester looked like the lefty the Red Sox envisioned when the season started. In other words, he looked like the 2008 version of Lester.

Red Sox - 100 310 020 - 8 11 0
Blue Jays - 100 000 010 - 2 5 0

A great afternoon in a shitty building in a fine country.

Lester (6-3-1-3-12, 115) set a career high in strikeouts, fanning the side in both the fourth and fifth innings. Ks by inning: 220 332.

Finally... some good news. Jon Lester had his best start of the 2009 season yesterday fanning 12 in six innings of work. Perhaps sparked by Lester's dominance, the offense woke up and smacked four ding dongs in this one... two from Youk and one from Pedroia and Bay.
