SAN FRANCISCO - Sources told the Daily News early Saturday that Carlos Delgado's ailing right hip will force the first baseman to be put on the disabled list prior to Saturday's 4 p.m. EDT game.

The injury might even put the slugger on the operating table.

The Mets have no plans to promote 20-year-old prospect Fernando Martinez to replace Delgado on the roster.
