Minnesota Twins defeat Tampa Bay Rays, 8-3
Life without Joe Mauer hasn't been easy for the Twins, especially facing all four 2008 American League playoff teams -- the White Sox, Angels, Red Sox and Rays -- and two others currently in first place in the Mariners and Blue Jays.
But Mauer will return to a .500 team Friday, when he comes off the disabled list after missing 22 games because of an inflamed sacroiliac joint.
The Twins evened their record Wednesday with another opportunistic effort, taking advantage ...
Mike Redmond went on the disabled list because of a broken finger in 1998, his first year in the big leagues, when he was catching for the Marlins.
He hasn't been on the DL since.
But with Joe Mauer set to come off the DL on Friday, the Twins could wind up placing Redmond on the DL because of right shoulder soreness, instead of demoting catcher Jose Morales, who is batting .349 after going 0-for-3 in the Twins' 8-3 victory over Tampa Bay on Wednesday.
