Game 18: Red Sox win tenth in a row, beat Yankees 4 - 1

Finding new ways to win, the Red Sox shoved the Yankees out of Boston with their 10th consecutive win thanks in part to Jacoby Ellsbury's straight steal of home, the first such play by a Sox player since Billy Hatcher did it in 1994.

The Red Sox finished their homestand a perfect 9-0.

The three-game sweep of the Yankees capped a 9-0 homestand -- and extended the Sox's winning streak to 10 games!

This game turned over the course of five pitches (with an intentional walk thrown into the mix) in the fifth inning. Boston had runners at first and second with two outs when David Ortiz doubled to the wall in left. Nick Green scored -- giving Boston a 2-1 lead -- and Jacoby Ellsbury went to third. Pettitte walked Kevin Youkilis intentionally to load the bases for J.D. Drew, who had struck out in his previous two at-bats.

Sunday: On free meter day, I got one of the best spots, and went to the line to get on the Monster around 5:00. This pic doesn't capture how hot it was. I didn't get any balls up there, but then I went to the bleachers. Papi hit one to the camera well in dead center, where the ESPN camera man picked it up. I went over to him and asked if he gets to keep balls or if he gets to give them to lucky fans nearby....
