Rod Blagojevich announces plans to be on Reality Show

I just found out that Rod Blagojevich — who today plead not-guilty to being the worst governor ever in the history of ever — is in negotiations to star on a reality show full of "D-list celebrities."

I don't know why that didn't shock me more than it did. I guess I'd just assumed he was already on a show like that.

Former Gov. Rod Blagojevich couldn't survive an impeachment trial, but perhaps he'll fare better in a Costa Rican jungle where scheming is more than allowed—it's encouraged.

The indicted pol has agreed to appear on "I'm a Celebrity … Get Me Out of Here," a survival-style reality show set to air beginning June 1 on NBC, the network confirmed. The opportunity could prove a bonanza for the financially pressed former governor, given the show would pay him $80,000 a week, a source said.

This sounds like a good idea…

Blagojevich… will be a participant in the new show “I’m a Celebrity … Get Me Out of Here!” pending court approval, NBC said Tuesday in a statement.

Ten celebrities will be dropped into the jungle “to face challenges designed to test their skills in adapting to the wilderness,” the network said.

If NBC can guarantee that nobody will go into the jungle to rescue him, I’m all for it. Otherwise, forget it.

Would there be a better TV show than plopping Rod Blagojevich in the middle of a jungle and watching him try to find his way out?

Nope.

And if a federal judge gives the impeached ex-governor of Illinois the go-ahead, we’ll get to see it. Bizarre? Yes. A possibility? Maybe.
