Boston College defeats Harvard, 4-3
There is no rush-hour traffic to wade through on the way to a 5 o'clock game, and spectators can hear what the coaches are yelling to their players.
Those may be the only good things about the Beanpot consolation game, a contest for a third place that has no prize.
But it mattered to Boston College, which managed to pull off a 4-3 victory over Harvard last night at TD Banknorth Garden when Benn Ferriero jumped on a Crimson turnover and scored with 42 seconds left.
For much of last season's run to the NCAA championship, there were four go-to guys.
Nathan Gerbe, now departed for the pro ranks, was Boston College's leading scorer with 68 points, but the other three returned for another year, hoping to repeat the glory.
