Rasmussen poll shows Alexi Giannoulias ahead of Mark Kirk in IL US Senate Race

State Treasurer Alexi Giannoulias, a Democrat, has inched past Republican Rep.

Mark Kirk in an Illinois governor match-up (although, within the margin of error), while Kirk remains slightly ahead of two other Democratic hopefuls, according to a Rasmussen Reports poll conducted Dec. 9.

Giannoulias leads Kirk 42 percent to 39 percent with 3 percent preferring someone else and 15 percent undecided. In October, the two were tied at 41 percent each. The margin of error is 4.5 points.

Kirk leads Cheryle Jackson, who is on leave of absence as president of the Chicago Urban League, by 42 percent to 39 percent with 4 percent preferring someone else and 15 percent undecided. He also leads David Hoffman, who left his job as Chicago Inspector General to enter the race, by 42 percent to 38 percent with 3 percent preferring someone else and 17 percent undecided.
