Oprah Winfrey Announces She will End Show With Expiration of Current Contract After September, 2011
Oprah Winfrey knows how to keep viewers on the edge of their seats.
Knowing that viewers were tuning in to her Friday show to hear the queen of talk confirm that the "Oprah Winfrey Show" was coming to an end, Winfrey had not one, not two, but three guests on before finally announcing that the end for "Oprah" had arrived.
Talk of love, loss, celebrity, power and new beginnings have been staples of Oprah Winfrey’s television show since it launched in 1986. On Friday, they came together as the 55-year-old former actress announced that she was ending her syndicated programme.
In a live broadcast from Chicago, a tearful Ms Winfrey said she had decided “after much prayer and months of careful thought” that the Oprah Winfrey Show would finish when her contract with CBS runs out in 2011.
