Cleveland Indians defeat Baltimore Orioles, 6-1

Who is that guy? : Indians ace Cliff Lee won't pitch in this series, but fellow left-hander Jeremy Sowers did quite an impression of the American League Cy Young Award favorite.

Sowers, who had won two of 16 starts since being recalled from Triple-A Buffalo, allowed just a run and four hits in eight innings. He had allowed three earned runs or more in 13 of those starts.

Originally in the Orioles' lineup last night, third baseman Melvin Mora tested his strained left hamstring before the game and determined he wasn't ready to return.

Mora, who said he would be available to pinch hit, hasn't played since injuring the hamstring Aug. 29 while trying to beat out an infield single.

"I don't want to go to third base and screw up everything," Mora said. "If I can do it, if I'm 80 percent, yeah I'll be there. But I don't think I can make 70 [...

It is indicative of what has become of the Orioles season, and their beleaguered pitching staff, when a starter allows 11 base runners and fails to complete five innings and it still qualifies as progress.
