Tampa Bay Rays defeat New York Yankees, 7-5

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. - Just when the Yankees' hopes for an improbable run to the playoffs were gaining momentum, Darrell Rasner brought them to a grinding halt.

With the Bombers looking to finish a three-game sweep of the AL East-leading Rays, Rasner produced his worst outing of the season, failing to get out of the second inning of a 7-5 loss.

"It was a struggle," Rasner said. "I just couldn't find it tonight. I'm ashamed of what I did tonight. It's embarrassing."

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. - Bobby Abreu has been one of the Yankees' few iron men this season, but the outfielder missed Thursday night's game after suffering a wrist injury on Wednesday night.
