PITTSBURGH - John Maine hasn't allowed a run in two starts since returning from the disabled list.
He can't be fully pleased, either.
Maine has lasted just five innings in each appearance because of high pitch counts. After needing 90 pitches to navigate five innings in D.C., Maine required 96 pitches for that length this time while again walking four batters. He turned over a 2-0 lead to the bullpen, but the Mets lost to the Pirates, 5-2, Monday.
