Minnesota Twins defeat New York Yankees, 5-1

MINNEAPOLIS - In desperate need of an arm after Saturday night's 12-inning victory, the Yankees called up righthander Scott Patterson from Triple-A Scranton for Sunday's game.

Patterson didn't have to wait long to make his big-league debut, pitching 1-1/3 innings in the 5-1 loss to the Twins. Patterson, 28, allowed one run on one hit and two walks, striking out two, and called the experience "nerve-wracking."
