Though the Orioles struggled to cash in on chances throughout the game, they made up for it in the 10th inning. Jay Payton led off the inning with a single, and Corey Patterson's bunt turned into a crucial hit when Indians pitcher Tom Mastny muffed the throw to first base, allowing Payton to advance to third. After Mastny walked Brian Roberts, outfielder Nick Markakis made him pay. Markakis lined a single to right field to drive in the winning run.
