At least Orioles left-hander Erik Bedard didn't get stuck with another no-decision last night. He broke that streak, but not in the way he wanted. Bedard suffered his first loss since April 23 despite holding the Oakland Athletics to two earned runs (three total) over seven innings and striking out eight. He hadn't earned a decision in his last five starts. Bedard is still looking for his first win since April 18.

This time, there was no controversy about pitch counts and no bullpen meltdown to mar another solid outing from the Orioles' suddenly hard-luck ace.

Erik Bedard's winless streak extended to seven starts last night for the same reason the Orioles' season continues to spiral downward: Their offense simply is not producing on a consistent basis.
