Kansas City Royals defeat Boston Red Sox, 10-4

One thing Red Sox manager Terry Francona is demanding of his players from here on out: Play the game right.

He understands errors and allowing homers happen, but when Manny Delcarmen failed to hold the runners at first and second in the 12th inning last night against the Kansas City Royals, allowing a double steal by David DeJesus at the front end to put runners at second and third, Francona didn't care for it.

The Red Sox may have crossed into the garbage time portion of their season, but there are still evaluations to be made that will affect decisions made in the offseason. And while owner John W. Henry responded to questions about the team's direction by saying, ``Prior to the free agent season, it wouldn't make sense for us to publicly disclose or discuss our offseason strategy and plans," it is evident the remainder of the season will shape that strategy.
