Toronto Blue Jays defeat Boston Red Sox, 8-1

TORONTO -- After three losses in Toronto, Red Sox manager Terry Francona announced that both first baseman John Olerud and catcher Kelly Shoppach will join the team in New York tonight for the start of a weekend series with the Yankees.

To make roster spots for the new players, Boston designated 32-year-old catcher Shawn Wooten for assignment and optioned righthanded pitcher Jeremi Gonzalez to Pawtucket. Both played in Boston's 8-1 loss to the Blue Jays last night.
