Construction of the Jay Pritzker Pavilion in Millennium Park Completed

The Jay Pritzker Pavilion serves as the centerpiece of Chicago’s Millennium Park, and is among the world’s most technologically advanced outdoor concert venues.

The 52,000 square foot pavilion features a performance shell with 679 massive curving stainless steel panels that resemble flower petals. The Walsh Group oversaw the development and completion of conceptual design for the stainless steel cladding systems to support these panels. Walsh used structural steel with composite columns encased in concrete to form the pavilion’s complex structure, dividing the framing into 5 separate areas. The final design and engineering of the panel assembly involved heavy coordination between specialized subcontracting firms.
