After putting non-dairy creamer in the microwave, Michael J. Nelson accidentally created a temporal rift at the end of his driveway.
Not one to look in his rearview when backing up, he backs into it, running over the last known pair of mated horned monkey-birds in existance. Hearing the thud, he pulled forward back through the rift into his driveway, just as the portal slammed shut. Getting out of the car and finding nothing, he shrugs and carries on.
Sadly, the horned monkey-bird would have been domesticated had they not gone extinct, and would have been trained to clean up loose leaves and grass in the yards of suburban homes, thus eliminating the need for the invention of the leafblower...
