FDA Approves Teva's Toposar
Treating lung cancer and testicular tumors in patients who have not responded to other treatment.
It is used in combination with other cancer medications.
Toposar is an antineoplastic. It works by stopping the tumor cells from dividing (mitosis), which prevents the spread of certain types of cancer.
Etoposide is used alone or in combination with other chemotherapies to treat testicular cancer that has not responded to other treatment and small cell lung cancer. Etoposide works by slowing cancer cell growth. It is also commonly known as VP-16.
Your doctor has ordered the drug etoposide to help treat your illness. The drug can be taken by mouth with capsules or by injection into a vein.

Etoposide is in a class of drugs known as podophyllotoxin derivatives; it slows or stops the growth of cancer cells in your body. The length of treatment depends on the types of drugs you are taking, how well your body responds to them, and the type of cancer you have.
