Chrysler Neon is First Produced

The Chrysler Neon (known in North America as the Dodge Neon and the Plymouth Neon) was a compact front wheel drive car introduced in January 1994 for the 1995 model year by Chrysler Corporation's Dodge and Plymouth brands.

It was branded as a Chrysler model in Japan, Europe, and Australia (where it was the first car to be sold as a Chrysler since 1981) export markets, as well as briefly in Mexico, Canada, and Egypt. It replaced the Dodge Shadow and Plymouth Sundance & Duster models and the Dodge & Plymouth Colt. The Neon was offered in multiple versions and configurations over its production life, which ended on September 23, 2005.

The first generation Neon was introduced in January 1994 and manufactured until August 1999. It was available as a four-door or two-door coupe. It was powered by either a 132 hp (98 kW) at 6000 rpm and 129 lb·ft (175 N·m) at 5000 rpm SAE 2.0 L SOHC or a 150 hp (110 kW) at 6500 rpm (R/T DOHC model) and 133 lb·ft (180 N·m) at 5600 rpm SAE 2.0 L DOHC four-cylinder engine. The first generation Neon was available with a three-speed automatic transmission or a five-speed manual transmission and was sold as a Dodge and Plymouth in the United States and Canada, and as the Chrysler Neon outside North America.
At the Neon's release, then president of Chrysler Corporation Bob Lutz said, "There's an old saying in Detroit: 'Good, fast, or cheap. Pick any two.' We refuse to accept that." The Japanese press touted the Neon as the "Japanese car killer", due to a spiralling Yen and the lower production cost of the Neon. The Neon did have potential to be successful, with praise for its looks, a lower MRSP, and more standard power when compared to competitor cars of similar vintage - the Civic DX at 102 hp (76 kW), the Civic EX at 125 hp (93 kW), the Sentra at 115 hp (86 kW), the Escort ZX2 at 130 hp (97 kW), the Corolla at 115 hp (86 kW), etc.
First-generation Neons were competitive in SCCA Solo autocross. Available with both the SOHC (sedan) or DOHC (coupe) the ACR was competitive in its class, and featured four-wheel disc brakes, Arvin non-adjustable struts for 1995–1996 models and Koni adjustable dampers for 1997–1999 models, thicker anti-sway bars, fast-ratio steering, heavy-duty front wheel hubs, and a five-speed manual transmission with a numerically higher .81 fifth gear and final drive ratio of 3.94 for quicker acceleration. 1995 through 1997 models featured adjustable camber. The computer-controlled speed limiter was removed from 1995 ACR models, and ABS was also, to save weight. The ACR offers no badging to distinguish it from other Neon models; the only visible differences are a bumper with fog light holes, but no fog lights and a lack of side mouldings. In 1995, the ACR was only offered to SCCA members, but in subsequent years it was available to the general public. The name "ACR" was initially the internal ordering code for the "Competition Package", as it was termed in dealer materials; however, as knowledge of the model spread, the ACR name stuck. The backronym "American Club Racer" was coined due to its popularity with club and grassroots racers.
The R/T model (Road/Track) debuted in the 1998 model year. Offered only with a 5 speed DOHC configuration, the R/T featured many of the ACR's mechanical upgrades including the numerically higher ratio 3.94 5 speed manual transmission, with the .81 5th gear. The R/T, however, was intended for the street, with more comfort and convenience features standard or available, and specialized parts like the adjustable dampers removed, although the dampers as well as the front coil springs found on R/T models were slightly stiffer, offering an advantage over standard model Neons. R/Ts featured optional stripes over the top of the car, silver "R/T" badging on the front door panels and the right side of the trunk deck lid, and a functional wing. The "Stripe Delete" option was available from the factory, but with no credit to the Neon's price. All striped R/Ts (Black,Red,Blue) had silver colored stripes, with the exception of the White R/Ts, which came with dark blue colored stripes.

Neons had unconventional options availability, including the unavailability of power windows in the rear doors. Certain color Neons, including red and black, had bumper covers molded in color rather than painted. These covers, while not as glossy as paint, absorbed scuffs and scrapes with less visible damage. The mid-level Highline models were well known for their unique "bubble" hubcap design.
The Australian-market Chrysler Neon came in two models, the SE and the better-equipped LX. Later, the LX model was replaced by the LE with the updated model in 1999. In the United States, the lineup started out as Base, Highline, and Sport, with different styles and options in each line, but the lineup titles changed frequently (other trim lines included Expresso, SE, ES, SXT, ACR, and R/T). In Europe, the car was available with a 1.8 L engine. Europe received one limited edition model, the CS, which only came in Platinum paint. It was fitted with the 131 bhp (98 kW) SOHC engine, American R/T specification suspension( slightly lower, 3.5 cm rear, 2.7 cm front), rear spoiler, unique alloy wheels, standard leather interior, double stainless steel exhaust, 6CD charger and a shorter 5-speed manual gearbox.
All Neons used American-designed engines. According to Dan Minick, who wrote for Engine Rebuilder magazine, the cylinder head of the DOHC version is an outright copy of that of Mitsubishi 2.0 L 4G63 engine, while the SOHC version borrows heavily from Mitsubihsi's early 90s 4G15 enigne from Colt. Mitsubishi also used the Chrysler-designed DOHC ECC engines with a reversed cylinder head. The Mitsubishi engine code is 420A.

The quickening dynamics of Chrysler Neon, which was previously celebrated among concourses of really plain and touching automobiles` votaries, is extremely earthshaking also anon. The absolutely legendary turbine-genertator leverage of this stuff is as usual unsurpassed, speaking about leverage, endless potential, together with colossal operation brand and more unimpeachable, almost Mercedes` trustiness. It furnishes truly classy promptness, which exceeds all your purposes. The sound bodywork was recently ultimately reestablished and structurally reformed.

I would not sense the very economical approaches of seemingly disingenuous, but actually testrained superintendents of honourable Chrysler Neon, who everlastingly overjump the contemporary market individualities and corroborate strongly high-pitched worthiness for such unsophisticated forms of this motor vehicle and don`t will to depreciate the latter. This diriment nonterminatingly acerbates potential purchasers, who heartily adore Chrysler Neon distinctively picture-postcard and very cleaned-up cargobody, together with amazing level of customary accommodation, and greatly rejoices determinate and more far-sighted competitioners, who endeavour to outgo this companionship. The seemingly trickish mechanicians of this magnificent motor vehicle, which can profoundly shock the most sophisticated autos` protagonists` requests and most high-pitched intimate needs, who have already experienced all main temptations of crackajack females` commorancy, once absolutely genially manufactured a really broad-based modification, which discloses very all-encompassing, and usually camouflaged, feasibilities of enormous accommodation and great titillation from quasi unoppressive running, which, actually, admonishes flying. This wizard Chrysler Neon bears chrome-plated carrel, which is exceptionally numinous for such three-farthing form of this unsophisticated auto.

Chrysler Neon, the car for terminated woodcocks, who totally cannot realize anything in this concinnous topic, fearfully captivates with scores of drawbacks, which are not irregular for this silly enterprise. Most commandants votes are beautiful but largely magnificent chiefly for boring designers. The allurement of this autocar is so strenuous that most confirmed assailants of this thing after all accede with inconditionate advocates of the marvelous output of this well-rounded enterprise, and its dynamic commandants, with their perficient intellections, contributes this thing, which is meliorating irrevocably by superordinarily strong-brained millwrights who are thoroughly building up an authentic irradiative pearl from any source. Currently, Chrysler Neon is an absolutely wondrous outbreak within the scope of autocars` execution on the pan-national standard.

This thing holds really pauseless benefits. By the way, generally, the workers of Chrysler Neon are continually improving it. Anteriorly, the fully professional implementers of this really pluperfect enterprise, scrupulously improved all the fundamental technical specialities of very jolly Chrysler Neon, e. g. more flammeous cockpit, also more concinnous paint, visually more liquid streamwise body, higher speed, together with greater amenities, facia with the modern hydraulic reinforcer, more equines under the cover, mind-boggling propulsor, better casings. I sincerely calculate, these are substantial grounds for you, dear unaffected and faithful autocars` lovers, to willingly shop this very garbage, without any single hesitation, individually, for such eye-catching charge. When shopping Chrysler Neon, the reverenced marketers extract a surprisingly magical, just super lizzie, which has uniformly signified its absolutely developed surety in all the most multiplicate occurrences, which can befall with whatever driver during riding along most of turnpikes and water the most ferocious outcome.
