The first annual KROQ Weenie Roast takes place
Weenie Roast is a multi-artist alternative rock concert, presented annually in June by the Los Angeles, California, USA radio station KROQ. Since its beginning in 1993, the event has been traditionally held on a Saturday in June, except from 2005 to 2009 when it occurred in May.
Every year it has taken place at Irvine Meadows / Verizon Wireless Amphitheater, in Irvine, CA. The exception was 2000. That year it was held at Angel Stadium, in Anaheim, CA.
From 2006 to 2009, the event was re-branded as Weenie Roast y Fiesta with the distribution of complimentary sombreros for its festival attendees.
Its East Coast "sister" concert, presented by KROQ's Baltimore/Washington, DC affiliate station WHFS, is the HFStival. Its northern California "sister" concert, presented by KROQ's Bay Area affiliate station KITS, is the BFD festival.
