The Offspring release Ignition
Ignition is the second studio album by the American punk rock band The Offspring.
It was the second Offspring album produced by Thom Wilson, and was released on October 16, 1992, on Epitaph Records. Due to the limited availability of their 1989 self-titled debut album (which had not been released on CD until six years later), many thought Ignition was The Offspring's debut album.
Released during the breakthrough year for alternative rock and grunge, the album brought the band small success in Southern California and The Offspring gathered a small following. This success would grow with their next album Smash. "Kick Him When He's Down" was released as a promotional single in 1995 after the band had risen in popularity; it is one of the few singles that did not appear on the Greatest Hits album.
