El Sayyid Nosair Kills Rabbi Meir Kahane

Meir Kahane was a radical Jewish rabbi who founded the Jewish Defense League, an organization which advocated against antisemitism towards Jews.

On November 5, 1990, Kahane was giving a speech to a large crowd of supporters in a Manhattan hotel. El Sayyid Nosair fatally shot Kahane in front of the group.

Nosair was found not guilty of the murder, and only convicted of a minor assault and illegal possession of a firearm charge. Puzzled and outraged by the jury's decision, the judge sentenced Nosair to the maximum sentence. Nosair was later convicted of involvement in the World Trade Center bombings, and is currently serving a life sentence in prison.

It took many years to link Nosair to the al-Qaeda, and figure out his motive for killing Kahane.
